Ramco invests Rs.1.1 b on factory

Sri Ramco Lanka, a leader in fibre cement roofing sheet industry has
invested Rs.1.1 b on a state-of-the-art factory in the Matugama
Industrial Park, Ramco Industries Limited CEO, Prem Shanker said.
He said that there is a big demand for fibre cement roofing sheets in
the local and international market. The new factory with a capacity to
produce around 140,000 mt of fibre cement a year will cater to this
market. Sri Ramco Lanka, a subsidiary of India’s diversified Ramco Group
commenced operations in Sri Lanka in 1999.
The company operates a corrugated and flat sheet plant which produce
around 240,000 mt annually.
Sri Ramco Lanka was awarded the ISO 9001:2008 certification for
quality sustenance. The company unveiled its new logo and announced that
legendary musician Sunil Perera as brand ambassador at a ceremony on
Wednesday.
The company has been accredited with the ISO Quality Systems
Certificate ISO 14001/en 14001 by RWTUV Systems GmbH, Germany. The Ramco
Group provides employment to around 1,500 people in Sri Lanka and India.
