LG Electronics achieve profit in Q3
LG Electronics Inc, recorded a third-quarter profit as its mobile
phone business reported a return on a stronger product line-up, a media
release from the company stated.
LG's July to September operating profit recorded 221 b won ($200.3 m)
from a 32 b Won loss a year ago, above consensus forecast of 172 b Won
by 13 analysts surveyed by Reuters.
LG's mobile touch phone sales sky- rocketed in the third quarter of
this year as demand in Asia lifted its global market share.
LG's increased sales of mobile phones come in the wake of strong
speculation that the mobile market had been expected to shrink amid the
global economic downturn, leaving handset makers striving to prop up
sales by focusing on a few growth areas such as smartphones and emerging
markets. The CEO of LG's mobile communications said that the company
will maintain a steady market share and become one of the largest
players in the mobile field.
