Munchee helps rural communities with CSR initiative

Ceylon Biscuits Limited through its 'Munchee samaga gamata sarana'
program fosters infrastructure construction and school infrastructure
development projects in rural areas.
A spokesman for CBL said, "The program aims at improving the way of
life of all communities we reach out to by addressing issues within the
communities that have been overlooked for a long period. It will
complete 54 projects on community development and enhance educational
facilities in schools."
"The projects include building bridges, water distribution projects,
supplying water to schools, rebuilding school libraries and IT centres,
constructing community centres and other community development
projects."
"Munchee has completed around 50 projects that began in 2010. A few
more projects are under way. The program has reached out to thousands of
people in various regions of Sri Lanka including the North, East,
upcountry, Western Province and South," he said. "In the Eastern
province with one such project, Munchee converted a bus into a library
for students in Waranketagoda Vidyalaya, Ampara," the spokesman said.
Nandana Wickramage, Group Director/Head of Marketing and Sales, CBL
said, "Uplifting the living conditions of communities is the objective
of the 'Munchee samaga gamata sarana' program. Before we choose
projects, we conduct in-depth analyses and ensure that the projects
generate sustainable growth. The program also aims at building cordial
relations between Munchee field staff and rural communities which in
turn brings back traditional values such as unity and trust."
