National Bank of Pakistan to open Colombo branch
National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has taken a big step to promote
banking and the trade volume of Pakistan especially with Sri Lanka. As
the first step, the NBP will open its branch in Colombo. The
documentation work is currently under way and after it's completed, the
bank will open its branch as soon as possible, Head of Corporate
Communication at NBP Syed Ibne Hassan told the media.
Increase in business between the two countries was discussed when a
high-profile Sri Lankan delegation led by Mayor of Puttalam and Chief
Government Organiser for Puttalam Electorate K.A. Baiz met Senior
Executive Vice President of NBP Zubair Ahmed recently.
The opening of NBP's Colombo branch will also assist Pakistanis
living in Sri Lanka to remit their finances to their home country fast,
Hassan said.
