Exhibition in Mumbai on Buddhism in Sri Lanka
The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai in association with the
Kala Bhavan in Thane, Mumbai inaugurated a photographic exhibition under
the theme 'Buddhism in Sri Lanka'. The exhibition was open to the public
from November 8 to 11.
The Mayor of Thane, Harishchandra Patil, and the Electoral Member of
the Republican Party of India, Asha Babasaheb Kamble, participated at
the inauguration ceremony.
The exhibition included 60 colourful photographs taken by Chandrakant
Ghatge, an internationally recognised photographer, during his recent
visit to Sri Lanka's Buddhist temples and cultural sites. The exhibition
reflects a cross-section of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan culture
and the living pattern of its people enlightened by Buddhism.
The Consulate will exhibit the photographs in a number of
International Schools in Mumbai in the coming months to strengthen the
unique cultural bond between Sri Lanka and India.
