by Mohammed Naalir
It is the bounden duty of rulers to protect Government institutions
as well as the privileges of their employees. Then only can their
ultimate goals be achieved, Postal Services Minister Jeevan Kumaratunga
said.
Minister Kumaratunga, after opening the Nuwara Eliya Postal Holiday
Bungalow, said ways should be found to reduce the expenditure of
Government institutions and develop them into profitable institutions.
The Postal Services Ministry too introduced the postal bungalow project
with this view.
The top floor of the Nuwara Eliya post office has been developed into
a holiday bungalow at a cost of Rs. 5.4 million. The project will be
helpful to cover the expenditure of the Postal Department.
The Minister said that this bungalow has been set up close to the
Nuwara Eliya tourist centre. A few months ago, two tourism holiday
bungalows were set up in Sigiriya and Trincomalee. Plans are afoot to
set up postal holiday bungalows in selected areas including Kataragama.
Domestic and foreign tourists and Postal Department employees can use
the services of these holiday bungalows at a reasonable price.
