Sampath and Poorna help Royal to force a draw
An unbroken fourth wicket stand of 115 runs between Sampath de Silva
(74 not out) and Poorna Aluthge (47 not out) helped Royal College,
Colombo to force a draw after being asked to follow on in their schools
under 19 cricket match against D. S. Senanayake College which concluded
at Surrey Grounds, Maggona yesterday.
Replying to D. S. Senanayake's first innings of 283 for 9 declared
Royal were bundled out for 143 runs in their first innings. Paceman
Binura Fernando wrecked the Royal batting by capturing 6 for 29
supported by spinner Supun Madusanka (3 for 37).
Following on Royal were badly placed at 26 for 3 wickets before
Sampath de Silva was joined by Poorna Aluthge and they took them to
safety with an unbroken stand of 115 runs for the fourth wicket. Sampath
had 14 hits to the ropes while Poorna had 7 boundaries.
