Bank of Ceylon turns 74

INFOTEL 2013 from Oct. 24-27

INFOTEL 2013 themed 'Enhancing Lives', Sri Lanka's largest ICT
exposition will be held at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention
Centre, from October 24-27.
ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), CEO, Reshan Dewapura said, "The e-Sri
Lanka initiative, which we have been implementing at the ICTA, is all
about contributing to national development. Therefore, it is indeed
significant that ICT industry bodies such as the Federation of IT
Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS ) - the organisers of INFOTEL - are also in
coherence with this vision."
HNB completes 200th school library project
The 200th school library built by the Hatton National Bank (HNB) was
opened at the Kopai Nawalar Tamil Vidyalayam, Jaffna recently.
When HNB embarked on a project to provide libraries for some of the
most deserving schools in remote areas of the country, it considered the
venture as more than just another CSR initiative.
Many of these schools lacked even the basic facilities and a scarcity
of teachers, resulting in poorly developed students.
Nawaloka launches 'Cardiac Club'

Nawaloka Hospital recently launched the 'Nawaloka Cardiac Club', an
informative and motivational support group for patients who have
successfully undergone bypass surgery at the hospital's Heart Centre.
This program was the first in an ongoing series which will bring
together groups of post-bypass surgery (coronary artery bypass graft
surgery) patients in various stages of recovery and those who have
already returned to a more active and satisfactory lifestyle.
Nolimit goes online
A website has been launched by Nolimit to enable customers to do
shopping online.
“We are a vertically integrated and dynamic fashion chain with hand
picked suppliers. The website is expected to make the company’s wide
range of clothing and accessories available to customers anywhere in the
world,” Nolimit, Marketing Manager, Akeel Latiff said.
“Online shopping has always been popular globally and now even in Sri
Lanka we see a surge in online shopping, especially among the urban
youth and young adults. Given the trend we felt this was the ideal
opportunity for us to revamp our offering by taking customer convenience
a step further,” he said.

New hair dye launched
Godrej Consumer Products Limited has launched a new hair dye in the
Sri Lankan market through Godrej Household Products Lanka Ltd.
“While we enjoy being one of the region’s leading hair colour brands,
we constantly re-think and re-engineer our offerings. We encourage
innovation and it is reflected in our product portfolio,” SAARC Godrej
Consumer Products Ltd, Vice President, Anirban Banerjee said.
The hair dye offers a complete one-stop solution by way of a hair
colouring kit, to help first timers, he said.
It will be available in three shades, natural black, dark brown and
burgundy.
Kandurata opens showroom in Matara
Kandurata Umbrella (Pvt) Ltd opened a showroom in Matara recently.
Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena was the chief guest.
Among those present at the opening ceremony were Chairman M.T.M.
Naushad and Managing Director M.T.M. Naufal.
Baurs to expand in Europe
A. Baur and Co. (Pvt) Ltd and its sister company Baur Asia (Pte) Ltd,
Singapore will expand its activities in the European markets.
A qualified lawyer and commercial degree holder, Ervins Visockis will
initially represent Baurs in the Eastern and Northern European markets.
He will negotiate with potential suppliers and customers in the fields
of import, export and travel for the company. Visockis will be based in
Riga, the capital of the Republic of Latvia. “With this expansion, Baurs
is taking further steps to increase its activities internationally to
create new business fields,” a company spokesman said.
Sri Lanka Insurance Galgamuwa branch relocates
Sri Lanka Insurance (SLI) Galgamuwa branch was recently relocated to
Main Street, Galgamuwa. It was opened by Sri Lanka Insurance Chief
Officer (Administration) Viyani Gunathilake. Senior managers were
present.
Singer goes for microwave ovens
Singer has introduced a range of microwave ovens with power and
time-saving features.
“Home cooks can use a simple flat-bottomed clay pot to prepare meals
in the Singer Microwave Oven, which has a maximum power output of 900W
and a cooking capacity of 23 litres. It has a simple push-button
interface and user-friendly features. Singer also produces a 25 litre
capacity Convection Microwave Oven that has a unique baking feature,” a
spokesman for the company said.
Janashakthi holds motor clinic in Dambulla
