Timber depot manager shot dead

The Storeroom manager of the Ratnapura Timber Corporation depot was shot dead by an unidentified gunman on Friday night.

The 47-year-old victim, Manoratnage Chandana Vijitha Kumara Manoratne was waiting in his car on the main road near the Ratnapura District Secretariat when he was shot at around 9.00 pm.

The victim, a resident of Ekoya area in Ratnapura succumbed to his injuries after admission to the Ratnapura Hospital, the police said.

He was believed to be on his way to a pirith ceremony in Deraniyagala.
