Access Projects completes Taj refurbishment
Access Projects (Pvt) Ltd recently completed the refurbishment of
three floors of Hotel Taj Samudra in less than six months, in time for
the recently-concluded Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
Access Projects renovated three floors, the lobbies on each floor and
86 rooms, including one presidential suite, an executive lounge and 14
suites.
The civil work of the renovation included concrete and masonry work,
painting, marble and glass work, door and window, ceiling work,
moulding, fixing of fittings and fixtures, fabric and wall paper. The
specialised finishes comprised marble floors and marble walls, tempered
curved glass balconies, feature ceilings and walls with moldings, and
grooves and mirrors.
“This demonstrates the capability of Access Projects as a forerunner
in the hotel construction and refurbishment sector. Our dedicated and
professional staff, enables us to complete near impossible tasks,” said
Access Projects, Executive Director Nishal Ferdinando.
“The actual construction time was less than six months, and to
achieve high quality finishes in such a short time was a tremendous
challenge. The actual effective construction time from mobilisation was
barely five months, due to holidays and Victory Day parade road
closures,” he said.
“We also had to ensure that other floors in the hotel were
functional. This too posed a major challenge to control noise levels and
limitations of work at night,” Ferdinando said. The government has an
ambitious goal of reaching 2.5 million tourist arrivals by 2016 and the
authorities project that 50,000 new hotel rooms are needed to
accommodate the tourists, he said. |
