Drop in some essential commodity prices
Amidst comments and criticism on the tax burden
and resulting price increases in consumer goods, price movements of
some essential commodities in the Pettah wholesale market shows
increases and sharp declines. With the surge of imports, prices of
big onion, red onion and potatoes have declined sharply and the
wholesale price of big onions has declined to between Rs. 80-85 per
kg from around Rs. 200 per kg a few weeks ago.

More foreign investments in the pipeline

local investment in the business, tourism and fisheries sectors
considering the investment potential for these sectors in the
Eastern Province, said Eastern PC Minister Naseer Ahamed who

Access Projects completes Taj refurbishment
Access Projects (Pvt) Ltd recently completed the
refurbishment of three floors of Hotel Taj Samudra in less than six
months, in time for the recently-concluded Commonwealth Heads of
Government Meeting. Access Projects renovated three floors, the
lobbies on each floor and 86 rooms, including one presidential
suite, an executive lounge and 14 suites.
