Sri Lanka’s Harshana Godamanna and Dineshkanthan Thangarajah were
beaten by Hady Habib and Gioyani Samaha of Lebanon in a Davis Cup tennis
Group II Asia-Oceania Zone Relegation Play-off doubles tie worked off at
the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts in Colombo 7 yesterday.
The Sri Lankans, who were ranked 63, were expected to win the crucial
encounter against the 71st ranked Lebanese pair, but lost by three sets
to two (7-6, 2-6, 6-3,3-6, 6-3).
The Sri Lankans were relegated to Asia-Oceania Zone Group III.
Harshana Godamanna and Sharmal Dissanayake will participate in two
Reverse Singles ties today at the SLTA courts premises.
