Junior National Tennis has attracted 393 entries

The Junior National Tennis Championships of the Sri Lanka Tennis
association (SLTA) has attracted 393 entries. The tourney will be at the
National Tennis Centre (NTC) in Greenpath and starts tomorrow (Monday)
and scheduled to end on August 14. This is being sponsored for the
second consecutive year by ABC Insurance (known earlier as Prudential
Assurance).
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SLTA, Lionel Almeida, told
the Sunday Observer that the sponsorship package was possible due to the
efforts of Shiran Dissanayake, Chairman of the ABC Group and Nimal
Fonseka and that the SLTA are greatful for their support towards tennis.
He hoped that ABC Insurance will continue to assist the SLTA in various
other projects too.
Three hundred and fifty matches are to be worked off and the events
are - Boy's Under-18 Singles and Doubles, Boys' Under-16 Singles, Boys'
Under-14 Singles and Doubles, Boys' Under-12 Singles, Boys' Under-10
Singles, Girls' Under-18 Singles and Doubles, Girls' Under-16 Singles.
Girls' Under-14 Singles and Doubles, Girls' Under-12 Singles and Girls'
Under-10 Singles.
Meanwhile, the Senior National Championships will be staged from
August 20 to 27 also at the NTC sponsored once again by Lafarge Cement,
while the Wheelchair National's (only for men) will be from August 20 to
27 on the hard courts of the NTC sponsored by South Asian Gateway
Terminals (SAGT) Pvt Limited. |
