Borah leader due here tomorrow

Leader of the International Dawoodi Borah Community Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb will arrive in the country tomorrow to commemorate the auspicious occasion of Asahara Mubaraka, a ten-day event held in remembrance of one of the Imams, Sheikh Zainudeen K. Hussein, Convenor of the Media Committee of the Sri Lanka Dawoodi Borah Community told the 'Sunday Observer'.

"Dr. Burhanuddin Saheb will arrive in the country as a state guest after eight years. His previous visit to the country was in 1999, to commemorate the auspicious occasion of Ashara Mubaraka. Thousands of followers from all parts of the world are also expected to arrive in the country in the next few days", he said.

Dawoodi Borah is the main branch of the Borahs, a Mustali subsect of Isma'ili Shia Islam based in India. Their spiritual leader, Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin is known as the Dail-Mutlaq and is the 52nd Dai-ul-Multaq in an unbroken chain of Daiyyun.
