Tele drama director and actor in custody

Mirihana Police yesterday arrested a Tele drama director and actor who have sold Rs.10 million worth lands fraudulently preparing forged documents.

Suspect Jayampathi Wimaladharma had sold about seven lands in Colombo and suburbs at cheaper rates in order to dispose such lands immediately.

When people want to sell their lands, the suspect had gone there as a genuine buyer and requested a photocopy of the deed. Then the suspect had prepared forged identity cards according to the names on the deeds and prepared deeds with same details on genuine papers as it is.

Two other suspects who were also involved in the fraud have also been arrested.

Mirihana Special Crime Branch is investigating to ascertain if any more deals had taken place and request people to inform the Police if there are any such incidents. Suspects will be produced before Kaduwela and Colombo Courts tomorrow.

The investigation has been conducted by Special Crime Branch OIC IP S.Thilakaratne, Sergeant Seneviratne (19053) and Sergeant Shantha (16162).
