'Ambassador for Peace' award to Maurice Dahanayake
The Universal Peace Federation - Inter-Religious and International
Federation for World Peace conferred the title "Ambassador for Peace"
recently to Maurice Dahanayake, reputed Radio, TV, Film, Artiste, Co-ordinative
Secretary to Ex-Minister of Justice and State Finance, at a ceremony
held at the Cinomon Grand Hotel Colombo 3.
Sri Lankan organisers were Rev. R. Thilairajan and Dr. Chula
Senaratna and the presentation was made by Mr. Song Kil Shin and Mrs.
Kyoung Ja Kim of Korea. Last year 2006, Maurice Dahanayake was bestowed
the "Kalabooshana" Award by the present Government. The Minister of
Cultural Affairs and National Heritage Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena MP
handed this to him as a Senior Popular Singer and Film and TV artiste.
From 1987 to 1989, he served as Member of Public Performance Board,
Dry Docks Ltd., (Director), Dockyard Ltd., (Director), E.T.F. Board
(Director), Sri Lanka Performing Rights Society (Vice Chairman and
Member).
From 2000 to 2004, he was Chairman of the Jathika Kala Sansadaya
(elected uncontested). He is also a Justice of Peace for the entire
island since 1978.
