Cricketers hail coaching camp at Kingswood

CRICKET: Talk of cricket at Kingswood College, one needn't bat an eyelid and household names will pop out - former schoolboy cricketers C. Maurice Fernando, top schoolboy batsman Owen Mottau and outstanding players like Clifford Ratnavibhushana, Asoka Perera, S. B. Elikawela, Tissa and Lalith Wijeratne, Laxman Galwaduge, Herbert Jayasuriya and Lionel Sirisena, to name a few.

The authorities at Kingswood are determined to bring the standard of cricket to the top level once again.

Principal Ranjith Chandrasekera along with coach Priyantha Wickremasuriya organised a residential coaching camp for three days for the first eleven cricketers of the school recently at the school premises.

Director of Coaching Sri Lanka Cricket Malcolm Perera, Provincial Coaches Sunil Fernando and Piyal Wijetunge covered all aspects of the game - batting, bowling and fielding skills for the participants.

The cricketers who underwent the coaching benefitted a great deal and they were full of praise for the authorities who thought of this coaching scheme which should hold the cricketers in fine trim in the forthcoming inter-school cricket season.
