Covert drive to discredit govt at rights parley

Certain political parties have allegedly been involved in a covert drive to tarnish the image of the Sri Lankan Government at the forthcoming human rights conference in Geneva, Chairman PAFFEREL organisation Kingsley Rodrigo told the media.

These political parties are attempting to tarnish Sri Lanka's image at the Geneva Human Rights conference by pointing a finger at the government against abductions, disappearances and killings in various parts of the country.

He said that political parties should not make use of this opportunity to meet their petty political ends at the cost of the country's reputation. All political parties should act in a responsible manner at this crucial juncture. Blaming the government without proper evidence is unfair and unethical, he said.

Such covert moves by any party will cause great harm to the country and its people and such political parties will get marginalised from the people itself.
