Farmers reap bumper harvest with
Mavil Aru water

Farmers are reaping a bumper paddy harvest in Seruwavila after the security forces recaptured the Mavil Aru anicut. The LTTE tried to put the lives of 45,000 farmers in Mavil Aru and Seruwavila in disarray by closing the Mavil Aru anicut in August last year.

SLFP tables devolution proposals

Nation's sovereignty main concern, says President :

Sri Lanka Freedom Party will, on Wednesday, submit their proposals to find a political solution to the problems faced by the country, which in turn will be presented to Science and Technology Minister Tissa Witharana, Chairman of the All Party Representative Committee.

The security forces yesterday, recovered bodies of eight persons, including four security forces personnel, whose vehicle was ambushed allegedly by the Tigers, deep inside the Wilpattu Wild Life Park.

President orders Police to swing into action

President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday directed Inspector General of Police to submit a special report before March 15, on the bodies found in two different places, and bring those who were responsible to book, at a special meeting was called by the President to discuss this issue with IGP Victor Perera and senior Police officers.
