LTTE uses toddy tappers as scapegoats

The innocent toddy tappers in Jaffna have been forced to hide the small arms such as pistols, revolvers, grenades and ammunition on the fronds of the trees, the sources said.

In a recent search operation carried out by the security forces in Puttur, Jaffna several small arms and ammunition were hidden on the fronds of Palmyra trees. Security forces also arrested some toddy tappers who helped the LTTE cadres in hiding their arms and ammunition.

According to sources it is due to the frequent search operations carried out by the security forces in Jaffna a large amount of weapons, explosives and other lethal items of the LTTE have been seized by the security forces, hidden in abandoned houses and buildings in various places in Jaffna.

The LTTE is using innocent toddy tappers as scapegoats to hide Tiger weapons meticulously on Palmyra tree tops, sources said.
