Century by Roshane Silva helps Joes win

CRICKET: Roshane Silva stroked a well compiled unbeaten century 101 and shared a valuable 76 runs for the 6th wkt with Thisira Perera to power St. Joseph's college to a 3 wickets victory over St. Peters college in their 33rd limited over cricket match for the Fr. Peter A. Pillai memory trophy played at R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

For the Josephians, it was their 18th win in the semis they last won it in 2005.

Roshane became the second Josephian to hit a century in the series. Tharindu Ariyawansa scored 109 in 2003 for Joes. While Malintha Warnapura unbeaten 126 in 1998.

Josephians 203 for 7 off 45 overs was mainly based on Roshane undefeated 101 in 115 balls and contained 3 sixes and 10 fours. He was ably supported by Thisira Perera a fine 37 off 42 balls - 1 six and 3 fours.

Joes were at one stage were 83 for 5. Peterites electing to bat first were dismissed for 201 off 47.9 overs.
