SAARC rally on Thursday

MOTOR SPORTS: The SAARC car rally will commence on Thursday from Cox Bazaar Bangladesh and it will travel through SAARC region from March 15 to April 13.

This rally has been organised by SAARC with the help of the government of India to strengthen friendship, harmony, peace and trade among the SAARC countries.

This rally will travel through Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. It will cover over 12,000 miles by travelling through the SAARC region. It will be 30 days rally and the final ceremony will be held on April 14 in the Maldives.

The Sri Lankan leg will be held between April 9 to 13 and this has been sponsored by Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation and Formula Plus. Sri Lankan leg of the rally will commence on April 10 from Colombo and it will proceed towards Tissamaharama via Panadura, Ambalangoda, Galle, Weligama, Matara and Tangalle.

The second lap of the Rally will commence from Kataragama and it will proceed to Kandy via Wellawaya, Ella, Welimada, Hatton, Nawalapitiya and Gampola. The third lap will commence from Kandy and it will proceed to Colombo via Matale, Kekirawa, Kurunegala and Polgahawela.
