Lineal Lyrics II
An
exhibition of work by artist Chandana Ranaweera 21st to the 27th of July
at the Alliance Francaise de Kandy 9 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. daily.
Artist Chandana Ranaweera works as an art instructor at the Kandegedara
Maha Vidyalaya in Alawwa. He has exhibited his work on many occasions in
many parts of the country on earlier instances and his simple line
drawings have been much appreciated by art lovers.
Ranaweera who has worked using different mediums to execute his work
has proven many times over that he is best at expressing himself with a
few strokes of lines on paper, bringing to life many aspects of his
rural surroundings. But the urbanisation of the village has fast created
a situation where most of what we see in Ranaweera's work is fast
becoming limited to artist impression alone.
Flute players, Drummers, wild elephants, Lotus' under star spangled
skies, images of gods, devotees, places of worship and many others
subjects, highlighting many things that confronts you if one spent life
in a village.
It is not unusual that Ranaweera has secured many awards both here
and abroad for his contribution to the arts, especially through the
medium of ink on paper.
'Lineal Lyrics II' is due to be ceremoniously opened by Professor
Ashley Halpe and his wife Bridget, who are both keen patrons of the arts
