CRICKET SELECTIONS: The top two cricketers - Ananda College caption
and allrounder Malith Gunatileka and Ranga Cooray of Holy Cross College,
Kalutara have been picked as the OBSERVER-BATA Schoolboy Cricketer of
the Year All-Island and Outstation respectively by the panel of umpires
who have officiated regularly in Inter-school cricket matches in the
island.
In the All-Island Contest, Malith Gunatileka, besides winning the
prestigious award, was also picked as the Best Allrounder and also
figured prominently in the contests of the Best Bowler and Best Captain.
In the Outstation Section, Holy Cross allrounder Cooray also won the
award for the Best batsman and Best Allrounder and also figured in the
final round of the Best Bowler's contest.
