Old Thomian's Swimming Club presents a night of 'Kaffringa'
It is all happening at
the OTSC Club House on the 28th of July. Famous Baila singers from
yesteryear will render their old favourites to the rhythms of Calypso
music bringing to life many memories which will be relished by many
music lovers, especially if they are keen baila lovers.
The evergreen Paul Fernando of 'Mala' fame will be joined by Susil
Fernando who has followed in his famous fathers footsteps M. S. Fernando
who no body will cease to forget in a hurry. His great oldies such as
'Mama Taxi Karaya', 'Pol Pol' and other lilting favourites will be
rendered to calypso music by his son Susil, who has made a name for
himself in the local entertainment scene at a fast pace.
The two Fernando's will be backed by the calypso band led by Melroy
Dharmaratna of the famous 'Dharmaratna Brothers' the band that was
responsible in bringing out evergreens such as 'Wessa Wahinawa' and
'Varsity Kollo' and the show will be compered by Brian Thomas.
Social Secretary of OTSC Tusita De Alwis told the Sunday Observer
Magazine that the evening is planned as a dinner event for the whole
family. As there are only a few tickets left if anybody is interested in
joining the evenings fun on the 28th they should contact the Club
