Off to win a crown at the Beauty Pageants

Three Sri Lankan Beauty Queens are busy gearing up to represent our
country at different International Beauty Pageants to be held this year.
Sebastian A.C. Perera Chairman Celsin Limited is the exclusive Franchise
Director for the four International Beauty Pageants.
Miss Tourism Universe in Venezuela is represented by Harshi Rodrigo a
popular fashion model and is just 24 years old. She participated for
Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe Pageant and won two titles namely Miss
Popularity and Miss Congeniality.
Twenty-four year old Dilani Ediriwickremasooriya a popular fashion
model as well participates for the Miss Model of the World in China. She
also participated for Miss Sri Lanka for Miss International and became
the first runner-up in 2006.
Miss World University in South Korea is represented by Savithri
Samaranayake, 21 years of age an up and coming fashion model.

Concert recital

Rohan de Lanerolle the baritone singer returns to the Sri Lankan
stage after a hiatus of ten years, for a recital of songs from Classical
Light Classics and pop accompanied by Soundarie David - piano.
The concert will be held on August 3 at the Lionel Wendt Theatre 7.30
p.m. Rohan de Lanerolle who has been giving concerts in UK and New York
accompanied by Rohan de Silva has arranged an interesting programme for
his Sri Lankan fans.
In the Classical section he will be singing a selection of arias by
Mozart, Schubert, Donezetti and Handel. The Light Classics will see
selections from the musical Carousel and West Side Story and also the
Jerome Kern classic 'Ole Man River'.
With his brother Ishan he will sing the duet Watchman Watch of the
Night. Taking his programme into the pop world, Rohan will delight his
pop audiences with special arrangements of Welcome to My World, a Trini
Lopez medley for audience participation and songs by Engelbert
Humperdinck.
Oriental spice

Spreading the exotic Oriental vibes for the appreciation of music
lovers is the three piece outfit Prathiba now performing at the Galadari
Hotel's, Indian Food Festival. The group is led by the SLBC Artiste
Ariyaratne Weerasinghe whose esoteric flute sounds has a compelling
attraction all its own.
The others in the outfit are Priyantha Chandradiptha, his slick
finger work on the tablas is not only expertly in sympathy with the
inspiring - sounds of the flute but also gives an extra thrust to the
expression of the flautist.
Keeping the rhythm and melodies intact is the sitarist Nimalasiri
Cooray, one time member of the SLBC Orchestra and now a regular artiste
performing at many formal occasions.
The Indian Food Festival will be on till July 14 and if you are
oriental music inclined you are bound to hear your favourite pieces
played by Prathiba, and at the same time savour the specialities turned
out by three specially flown down chefs from Breeze Hotel, Chennai.
