Sri Lanka under 19 win by six wickets

CRICKET: The touring Bangladesh Under 19 cricket team came up with a better batting display in their second innings after following on, but it was insufficient to prevent their Under 19 counterparts from Sri Lanka winning by six wickets in their three day game concluded at Police Park yesterday.

In reply to Sri Lanka's first innings total of 314 the visitors were shot out for 97. Following on with a deficit of 217 runs, the Bangladeshi juniors were 183 for 4 overnight. Tapos Gosh and Ashraful Aziz who were unbeaten overnight added 59 runs for the fifth wicket.

The visitors batting looked sound with the top order, Mohammed Mithun (38), Hassan Limon (47), Tapos Gosh ( 37), and Ashraful Aziz (63) helping Bangladesh to reach 303 and forcing the Lankans to bat again with a lead of 87.

Sri Lanka after losing opener Lahiru Thirimanne in the second over for nought, Dinesh Chandimal and first innings centurion Ashan Priyanjana added 49 runs for the second wicket which paved the path for victory.
