Double century by Waduge

CRICKET: Tharaka Waduge struck a fine double hundred (217) facing 215 deliveries with eight sixes and twenty two fours to help Ragama CC to reach 390 for 6 declared on the first day in their Under-23 cricket match against Ragama CC played at De Mazenod College grounds, Kandana yesterday.

Waduge was engaged in a 203 run partnership for the fifth wicket with Nilushan Nonis (103).

Ragama CC: 390 for 6 declared (Tharaka Waduge 217, Nilushan Nonis 103, Maduranga Soysa 35, Mangala Kumara 2 for 120, Romesh Eranga 2 for 87).

Seeduwa/Raddoluwa: 21 for 1 at stumps.

Kurunegala 69/5

Kurunegala YCC were 69 for 5 in reply to NCC's 218 on the first day in their Under-23 Cricket encounter at the Welegedera Stadium, Kurunegala yesterday.

NCC: 218 (Hashan Goonetileka 40, Tharaka Kottehewa 55, Suraj Mohammed 36, Damith Mapa Bandara 21, Anurudha Rajapakse 3 for 35, Duminda Dassanayake 3 for 20, Charith Bandara 2 for 40).

Kurunegala YCC: 69 for 5 at stumps (Eranga Gangoda 14 n.o., Vimanga Perera 15 n.o., Tharaka Kottehewa 2 for 12). (RA)

Kandy YCC amass 352/7

Three attractive half centuries by Openers Chamidu Ishanka (75 with 11 fours), and Rajitha Wickremasinghe 92 (with 13 fours) together with Buwanaka Ekanayake 87 (with 8 fours and 3 sixes) enabled Kandy YCC to score a formidable 352 for 7 declared against CCC in their under-23 Premier Division one cricket tournament match played at CCC grounds yesterday. CC in reply were 21 for 1 at close.

Kandy YCC 352 for 7 decl. (Chamidu Ishanka 75, Rajitha Wickremarachchi 92, Buwanaka Ekanayake 87, Maduranga Munaweera 48, Chathura Bandara 2 for 69, Gayana Wijetilleke 2 for 34). CCC 21 for 1.

SSC in strong position

SSC seemed set to gain first innings win over Kalutara CC in their Under-23 division one cricket tournament match played at the SSC grounds yesterday. SSC after declaring at 308 for 8 claimed Kalutara CC top four batsmen for 53 at close.

SSC 308 for 8 decl. (Navin Perera 52, Dimuth Karunaratne 69, Hans Fernando 45, Janudika Sriyapala 40, Iran Indika 4 for 62).

Kalutara CC 53 for 4 (C. Gunasinghe 2 for 21)
