Defence Secy. meets soldiers in Jaffna
Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa who addressed a section of
Armed Forces members in Jaffna yesterday briefed on security measures to
be taken against future possible attacks by LTTE targeting Security
Forces and important civil installations in the peninsula.
He met Senior Military Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and Police
Officers serving in Jaffna at the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ.J)
during his one day visit to Jaffna. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Air
Chief Marshal Donald Perera, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General
Sarath Fonseka and some Senior Officers also joined him.
After reviewing the present security situation as briefed by the SF-J
Commander Major General G. A. Chandrasiri and Commanders of respective
Divisions and Brigades Defence Secretary gave necessary instructions
with regards to security in Jaffna. Defence Secretary and military
chiefs inspected the operation room newly installed at the SFHQ-J.
