Benz car controversy - CID unearths evidence

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probing the Benz car
controversy has unearthed evidence that Hemantha Nishantha, the
businessman involved in the incident had allegedly killed his first wife
over a dispute somewhere in 2004 in the Maharagama area.
CID sleuths are also probing whether Hemantha is involved in several
other murder cases, CID sources told the Sunday Observer. Meanwhile the
CID has filed a report in Court seeking permission to exhume the body of
Hemantha's wife buried at a public cemetery in the Piliyandala area to
conduct further investigations.
They are also probing whether Nishantha was allegedly involved in the
murder of a man who had killed Nishantha's brother in 2004 at Maharagama.
"We are investigating whether the man was killed as an act of revenge,"
sources said.
According to the Jathika Hela Urumaya, Nishantha Hemantha who is
involved in multi- million businesses is a tax dodger, who had sold
several vehicles to people in Kilinochchi.
