Be positive

Remember "Life is like a box of chocolates

You never know what you are going to get"

Another year passed and a new year has already dawned amidst many good and bad events taking place. Good events are rarely highlighted as they pass away without our knowledge. But bad events strick us with a great bang.

Many killings including MP T.Maheshwaran, the Army bus attack at Slave Island and Banazir Bhuto's death were a few among many that took place along with the dawn of 2008.

Another most devastating news was the loss of babies from the maternity wards of the Government Hospitals. Seeing your baby after keeping him or her in your womb for 9 months is an unforgettable event. Losing anything in this world, of course can be tolerated, but definitely not your child. If it was a still birth, yes, you have to accept it.

But, no.. no... after having hopes higher than the sky about your baby, who wants to loose him/her? The most repulsive fact out of all this was that the alleged thieves of the babies were also 'mothers' who had also given birth to another life.

I personally felt the happiest news I heard for the whole of last year was the discovery of little Gavish who went missing from Kalubowila Hospital for five days. The little bundle got a prince's treatment with a brilliant welcome both at the Police Station and then at his residence.

The TV cameras were focused on little Gavish. His mother was in tears of joy. The jubilation over his arrival was celebrated by the whole country along with his father, his little sister and other relatives. I shed tears; first when I heard he was missing; second when he was found. Not merely me, but many who have a heart cried over it.

Some consider all these incidents as bad omens. This could be! But still, there are many things that have been happening with positive aspects, which we simply do not notice.

Incidents, work load, remarks and moods of others discourage us, make us low and negative. If we can be more alert we would simply find a way to over come it. Many talk about positive thinking. Every religion shows the path to bliss. But have we ever thought of making use of them?

Along with the dawn of the New Year, you might have faced many happy and bad incidents. Though however difficult, try to forget the sorrow and animosity that have been bothering you throughout. Positive thinking should be the secret theme in your soul this year.
