Brave soldiers

Brave soldiers who reign in the North and East,
Fearlessly fighting-men turned into beasts,
In helmet and boots-guns slung on,
You press on regardless-under the burning sun.

Through jungles and rivers as you cross,
Food and sleep are never thought of,
Mortars and gunfire are your companions tough,
As you look for the enemy that end innocent lives.

Men we thought of as our brothers,
Now kill human beings,
Forgetting their religions and what they mean,
Sons of Sri Lanka, we proudly acclaim,
Your service to mankind is not in vain!

The hardships and dangers you daily face,
In trying to repulse the enemies ways,
Young heroes we realise, what you undergo,
Your mothers should be praised,
For having let you go.

(This poem is dedicated to our brave soldiers)

My Passion

I fell in love with you
From the time I learned
To write a,b,c
The bond became stronger
With each passing day
Though at times the hues
Did change....
Later on I found out
It's due to moods and moments
With time all I did was
Hold on to it
The rest gushed
In astonishing speed
And realized what falling
Head over hills mean?
It carried me through the waves of life
Guiding and guarding
Until I figure out who I am to be
And still I'm holding on to you
Without you who would I be?
Without you where would I be?
Without you how could I live?
My strength, passion and weapon is you
My life; my pen.

Hitting 'Pol Adi' (T 20)

Limbs of batters flails,
Sans customary batsman's grace,
Bowlers would always pray,
That the averages would not go astray.

Catchers need sharpest ability,
And a panther like mobility,
For one dropped high-flying catch,
Might cost the whole darned match.

To make it's appeal ride higher,
Game was turned to a mode of quick-fire,
Alas, cricket is now a game of "Dadi-Bidi",
For T 20 is all about hitting "Pol Adi".

Paradise

Over my head is the bluish veil,
Embroidered on which are gold jewels,
That blink and wink at me.
Kissing my feet are beads of dew,
That rock on the greenish carpet.

Fauna together with flora,
Bathed in silver gleam,
Are in a divine dance,
Embracing misty breeze.

Stealthily enters into my ear,
Is the soothing nocturnal murmur,
That luls me into a trance,
Where I'm forgetful of daytime worries.

Oh! there's no other paradise,
Other than you, to me,
Dear moonlight chill, yes, it's true.
