'Tharaka Wessa'
Rohan Liyanage on his second poetic odessy:
His earlier works published in 2004 and 2005 were popular both
amongst lovers of poetry and critics. Titled 'Adaraye Vilasita' and
'Sonduru Asapuwa' were both based mostly on verses of love as his
present collection.
Love and its lamentation seem to be the poets favourite creative
grounds and he seems to be very inventive with such verse.
The book which contains a hundred poems begins with an appeal to the
nobel Buddha explaining the pain of man who is a victim of love, this
followed a piece dedicated to 'Mother' praising her maternal appeal and
charm and the abundance of love she gives so selflessly.
And the poet dedicates his third foremost poem to 'Paternel love'
remembering and reminding the reader about how his fathers influence
lead him to take in his footsteps creating and writing poems.
Besides these few and some others that gloss around various other
subjects Rohan seem to grossly involved in writing verse, either in
praise of his lovers attributes or lamenting over love that never was a
fulfilling aspect in life.
'Tharaka Wessa' is an important piece of work not only for readers of
poetry alone it is a joyful experience to both the young and old alike,
but who has had fulfillment in seeking love as well as the ones that had
lost at trying to posess it.
The poet reminds you the age old saying which states that "It is
better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" |
