Security tightened in city

The Sri Lanka Army has tightened security measures in Colombo and in the main cities,Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said. More troops have been deployed and the number of checkpoints have been increased, he said.

"We have given special attention to security in schools and public places where more people tend to gather," Brigadier Nanayakkara said.

The bomb explosions recently are merely to scare people making them feel insecure, the Military spokesman said explaining the reasons behind the recent bomb explosions in the city.

These LTTE attacks are in response to the Government's decision to abrogate the Ceasefire Agreement. "Terrorists want to create a fear psychosis among people and obstruct their day to day life.
