Strict selection criteria for OICs

A strict selection criteria have been formulated by the National Police Commission (NPC) for the selection of police officers to be appointed as Officers in Charge of Police stations. The measures have been taken to select the most suitable officers to man police stations in the country.

Meanwhile, all Police Stations in the country have been graded as A1, A2, A3, B and C as before and OICs are selected from the rank of Chief Inspectors, Inspectors and Sub Inspectors according to nature of operations in these areas. Confirmed Chief Inspectors, in charge of A2 or A3 or B grade police stations for at least three years will be eligible.

It has also been stipulated that these officers should have been in charge of crime investigation, traffic, vice, fraud, women and child branches.

The officers should also have served in an operation area for not less than one year as Chief Inspector or as an Inspector.
