Signal invests over Rs 20m to preserve Lankan smile

Third instalment of Sina Bo Wewa campaign:

Signal, has invested over Rs 20 million for the third instalment of the groundbreaking Signal Sina Bo Wewa campaign, once again in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Dental Association (SLDA).

The campaign, which is the flagship program of the Signal Oral Health Services (SOHS), will this year strive to preserve the internationally famous Sri Lankan smile, by educating schools and families in Hambantota, Kurunegala and Anuradhapura districts from June 15 on the importance of oral health care.

The Signal Sina Bo Wewa campaign, which was launched by the SOHS in 2005 to link the famously unique Sri Lankan smile with oral hygiene, will this year offer a series of educational programs, games and activities and dental camps to schools and families all over the island to create awareness on good oral care habits and treatment of dental disorders.

Unilever Sri Lanka Brand Manager for Signal, Pramodh Kahandaliyanage said, ‘Signal has received an incredible response to this program over the past few years with an average of over 15,000 participants per camp and is proud to bring the program again to the public in collaboration with the SLDA, which has partnered the campaign since its inception.

The primary focus of this year’s program is to promote good brushing habits, particularly among children, by conveying the importance of night time brushing and changing toothbrushes every three months.

It’s easier to build your life around good habits if you start from an early age and with the recent oral census conducted in Sri Lanka shows that over 90% of adults and 60% of children suffer from problems related to Oral Hygiene, indicating a high incidence of dental decay among children in Sri Lanka, Signal intends to use its leadership role in the oral health market to promote better dental hygiene among children through programs like Signal Sina Bo Wewa.’
