CEAT supports Idiriya to promote ‘Access ability’
Efforts to promote ‘designing for inclusion’ in Sri Lanka’s
construction industry to accommodate the increasing numbers of people
who are physically or sensorily disadvantaged have gained momentum with
the country’s top pneumatic tyre manufacturer CEAT supporting Idiriya ,
an organisation of professionals campaigning for the provision of better
access to public building.
CEAT Sri Lanka is a winner of the National Productivity Award and 11
Awards at the National Quality and Productivity Convention.
Its support to this campaign of national importance spearheaded by
Idiriya’s founder and Secretary General Dr. Ajith C. S. Perera, would
enable the organisation to intensify its campaigns to make the public
more aware of the need to create environments that empower and enable
all citizens to accomplish their day-to-day activities with dignity,
regardless of their degree of mobility.
Among the first initiatives in this direction since the formalisation
of the partnership between Idiriya and CEAT was the launch of a book
entitled ‘Access ability for All-why you?’ as another community service
initiative by Idiriya.
