Sixteen swimmers for Malaysia

SWIMMING: Sixteen swimmers - eight boys and eight girls have
been selected by the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association to
swim at the 3rd Asian Schools Swimming Championships hosted by the
Malaysian Schools Swimming Association to be held from July 17 to 20 at
the Dawne Ehsan Aquatic Centre, Shah Alam, Malaysia.
According to Chintha Ruwanpathirana Secretary SLSASA the swimmers
were selected after a trial held last month and the team has been
approved by the Ministry of Education.
The 8 boys are - Heshan Unamboowe (Trinity), Dasun Perera (Royal),
Diluka Thibbotumunuwa (Ananda), Punhasa Senanayake (Ananda), Pradeep
Bandara Wanigasekera (Trinity), Chanaka Malimboda (Ananda), Chanaka
Sinhaganu (Gateway College), Yahan Samarajeewa (Royal). Girls:
Miniruwani Samarakoon (Gateway College, Kandy), Methma Jayawardena (Museaus),
Madhawee Weerathunga (Mahamaya College, Kandy), Gihara Sachini
Amerasinghe (Southland College, Galle), Devinka Gunathilaka (AIS),
Hansani Weerathunge (MCK), Shehani Mediwake (Ladies College), Cindy
Nanayakkara (St. Bridget's Convent).
The officials: Rohana Karunaratne (Chef de Mission), President SLSASA,
Chintha Ruwanpathirana (Manager, Mahamaya College), U. H. Sugath (Coach)
Trinity College, K. Janka Lal (Assistant Coach), P. de S. Kularatne
College, Ambalangoda.
The team will leave on July 14. |
