Derana Star Challenge:

It's a novel reality show

Athula’s Warriors

Quick on the draw so to speak, TV Derana launched their latest reality show 'Derana Star Challenge' at the Galle Face Hotel recently. This music based reality show is, as described by the management, totally novel and a different television experience for Sri Lankan audience. There are no individual performers but six vocal groups will come centre stage to compete with one another for the coveted title and the prize. Each of the six vocal groups will be led by a popular musician. Athula Adikari's group will be called Athula's Warriors, while Rajiv Sebastian's team is Rajiv's Blaster. Then there's Samitha Mudunkotuwa whose team will be Samitha's Kings. Not to be left out are Raju Bandara whose team will be called Raju's Breakers, Indrachapa Liyanage's group is Chapa's Rockers and finally Chamika Sirimanne's team will be named Chamika's Rulers.

Each group consists of four singers and these singers are the successful participants of Derana Dream Star Season 1 and 2.

The run of the reality show will be that each episode of the Derana Star Challenge will see two teams with their four members competing with each other. The members are expected to sing all time super hits. Each performance will be rated through scores by the other four non-performing team leaders, who will be the judges for that particular week.

TV viewers have the opportunity to vote for their favourite team during the telecast of the show and what's more the SMS verdict will be announced at the end of each programme.
