Rain halts Aussie - Lanka game

A game that was tagged as a 'grudge battle' between Sri Lanka and Australia in Group 'A' of the 2011 World Cup and which promised electrifying cricket and with a packed stadium waiting in anticipation for drama to unfold, rain played the part of spoil sport and cruelly halted the game.

CRICKET: Dashing opener Shehan Fernando hammered an unbeaten century as St. Peter's College forced a draw to their 77th annual inter school Battle of the Blues Big Match against the traditional rivals St. Joseph's College which ended in a draw at the P. Saravanamuttu Oval yesterday.

Bowlers dominate on day one

The 82nd Battle of the Maroons between Ananda and Nalanda is evenly poised with the bowlers of either dominating on the first day at the SSC grounds yesterday. Ananda bowlers justified their decision of putting Nalanda into bat first after winning the toss and taking wickets at regular intervals.
