Oshada reaches 1000 mark

Oshada Fernando of St. Sebastians College, Moratuwa became the fourth school boy cricketer to complete one thousand runs (1012) for the current cricket season when he scored 70 runs in their inter-school under-19 cricket match against St. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia which ended in a draw at Moratuwa.

Heavy down pour which started at 3.45 p.m. on day two put an early end to the game. Resuming at 103 for 2 in reply to Thomian score of 220. Sebs declared at 362 for 8. When rain interrupted play visitors were 77 for 2.

Sebs huge score was propped up by Oshada Fernando 70, Marlon Fernando 77 and Anuk de Alwis 43. Madushan Ravichandrakumar claimed 5 for 134. For Thomians in their first essay Kavindu Perera made 47 runs.

St. Thomas: 220 in 68 overs - Kavinda Perera 47, Ramith Gunarathne 34, Chamath Pathirana 39, Madushan Ravichandrakumar 22 n/o, Vishva Fernando 3/21, Anuk de Alwis 2/29 and 77/2, Asiri Wickramanayake 27, Nalin Kavindu 21 n/o.
