Innings win for Marians

St. Mary's College, Kegalle scored their 9th outright win for the season when they registered an innings and 10 runs win over Sri Sumangala College, Kandy in their inter school cricket match played at the Kegalle Esplanade. On Saturday the match was over before the tea break.

Match winner for the Marians was their skipper and off spinner Mahinda Gunaratne who took 6 for 17 and for 21 to return a match haul of 10 for 8 bringing his tally for the season to 91 wickets.

Marians in their turn at the wickets ran up a quick 147 for 4 in just 26 overs. Christopher Denipitiya 53 not out and Madawa Herath 54 not out put on 110 in an unbroken stand for the fifth wicket.

Sri Sumangala: 53 (Mahinda Gunaratne 6 for 17, Prince Jayakumar 4 for 8) and 74 (M. Yatawathura 17, N. Perera 12, Mahinda Gunaratne 4 for 21, Prince Jayakumar 3 for 17).

St. Mary's: 147 for 4 wickets declared (Mahinda Gunaratne 18, Madawa Herath 54 not out, Christopher 53 not out, N. Perera 3 for 40).
