Bicycles for Trinco students - Minister -C.B. Ratnayake

A project will be implemented on a direct issued by Private Transport Services Minister C.B. Ratnayake to the students in remote provinces where public transport is not adequate. Rupees 05 million has been reserved for the first phase of the proposed project.

Under the first phase of the project 500 students have been selected from Trincomalee District who travel more than two kilometres to get to school.The bicycles will be distributed among 200 female students and 300 male students.

These bicycles are to be distributed by Private Transport Services Minister C.B. Ratnayake at a ceremony which is scheduled to be held at Kantale Agrabodhi Vidyalaya and Kuchchaveli Vivekanandha Vidyalaya.

Under the second phase of the project bicycles will be distributed to the students who are from remote areas in Ampara and Batticaloa Districts.The Public Transport Commission has also planned to donate bicycles to the students in remote areas in North Central Province, according to Director Planning, Vijitha M. Weerasinghe, Director, National Transport Commission.
