Death of veteran journalist T. Sabaratnam

The death occurred yesterday of veteran journalist T. Sabaratnam, a former News Editor of the Daily News. He was 79.

Sabaratnam started his journalism career at the Thinakaran in 1957 and retired from ANCL in 1997. A respected columnist, he wrote regularly to The Nation and other English and Tamil publications after his retirement from active service. He was also a well known journalism educator and participated actively in various initiatives concerning the profession.

He is survived by his wife and three children. He also had a brother and a sister.

The remains are at his residence 21/1, P.T. de Silva Mawatha, Dehiwala. Funeral arrangements will be notified later.
