exhibition, organised by the Dept. of Health, Western
Province was opened by First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa on

The Diploma Awarding Ceremony of the
United Youth School of Mohan Lal Grero Foundation (MLGF) was
held at the Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, recently.
Around 250 students received their diplomas for the period
July 2010 - January 2011. Minister of Higher Education S.B.
Dissanayake was the chief guest and Colombo District MP and
Founder of the MLGF Mohan Lal Grero and Coordinating
Principal, Lyceum International Schools Kumari Grero were

New Bishop of Colombo
Rev. Dhiloraj Canagasabey has been appointed as the 15th Bishop of
Colombo, of the Church of Ceylon.
He has been unanimously elected by the Diocesan Council yesterday.
Rev. Dhiloraj Canagasabey was ordained in 1983 as a priest. Since
1997 until he was elected as Bishop, he served as the Archdecon of
Nuwara Eliya. He is married with two children and hails from Batticaloa.
He is an old boy of St. Michael's Batticaloa.
CP to get cultural hall
Moves are under way to set up a cultural hall of international
standard in the Central Province, according to Governor of the Province
Tikiri Kobbekaduwa.
The hall would be constructed with financial assistance from China
and will consist of 1,000 seats with modern facilities, the Governor
said.Kobbekaduwa said the project would be carried out following the
Kandy development progressive meeting held between President Mahinda
Rajapaksa and the Governor.

Silumina staffer's mother passes away
P. Nandawathe mother of Chandra Sri Somasiri, journalist attached to
the Silumina editorial and the Organizer of Forum for Songs of
Yesteryear, passed away.
Funeral will take place today at 4 pm at the family burial grounds at
Kandanegedara, Kuliyapitiya.
Kidney patient seeks help
H. Jayasinghe (51) of No. 94, Kongashandiya, Kalutara North is
suffering from acute renal failure.
The consultant nephrologist of Colombo National Hospital, Dr. A.L.M.
Nazar has recommended kidney transplantation with 'O' Positive kidney.

Help heart patient
T.A. Freddie Talagala (53) of No.12, Negrodharama Road, Kalutara
North is afflicted with a coronary artery disease.
Consultant Cardiologist, Colombo National Hospital Dr. S. Narenthiran
has recommended surgery. Due to the needy circumstances, his family
finds it difficult to foot the medical bill and has hence appealed for
public contributions.

Appeal for O/B group kidney
T.A. Gamini of 357/58, Gallewatta, Raddoluwa, is diagnosed with End
Stage Renal Failure, and urgent Kidney transplantation has been
recommended by Dr. A.H. Hewageegana, Consultant Nephrologist of the
National Institute for Nephrology, Dialysis & Transplantation Colombo.
He is of blood group B positive and he appeals for a O or B group
kidney.
