HIMT to provide qualified hoteliers

Harpo Productions and Harvard School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, offers an Australian Hospitality and Tourism Qualification in Sri Lanka.

The recent boom in the tourist industry in Sri Lanka has created a vacuum in the availability of hoteliers.

The provision of a good hospitality service is essential with Sri Lanka becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination. As such there is a huge demand for qualified hoteliers who are also well versed with international hospitality standards.

It was the need to fill this void in the hospitality industry that motivated Harvard Institute of Management and Technology (Pvt) Ltd, and Harpo Productions to offer this unique course of study to the youth of Sri Lanka in collaboration with Australian education provider Princeton Institute of Education. Harvard Institute of Management and Technology (HIMT), is a registered private provider of education in tertiary education, post-graduate studies, and vocational skills development, at Colombo 07 within the Harvard Group Complex.

Under HIMT's school of Hospitality and Tourism Management, the two partner institutions will combine their expertise and industrial training to enrich and add value to the educational experience.

Chairman of HIMT Dr. Egerton Senanayake said, "I find that there is a dearth of well-trained personnel in the hospitality and tourism industry particularly in the light of the government's progressive policy on tourism to reposition the industry as a leading industry providing employment opportunities for the youth and a veritable source to attract foreign exchange to Sri Lanka.

Princeton Institute of Education, established in 2004, is a leading vocational education provider in Melbourne, Australia which offers quality education and training. The institute is approved to deliver training by the Victorian Registration and Qualification Authority.
