World Spice Congress addresses food safety initiatives
This year's World Spice Congress is based on "Sustainability and Food
Safety - Global Initiatives", to address the challenges of
sustainability and food safety.
The 11th World Spice Congress (WPC) was held in Pune, India from
February 9 to 11.
The World Spice Congress Exhibition was held along with the business
session. The exhibition showcased capacities and capabilities of the
spice companies to prospective clients.
World Spice Congress drew a record number of delegates from around
the globe including Canada, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Sweden, UK, the US,
Malaysia, South Africa, Syria, Australia, China, Italy, Poland, France,
Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, the Cayman Islands, Brazil, Saudi
Arabia, Spain, Singapore, Turkey, Belgium, Indonesia, Israel, Austria,
Ethiopia, Finland, Ukraine, Vietnam, the UAE, Japan and Romania.
Over 200 international delegates and 300 delegates from India
participated in the event.
Intercom Group Companies and the Spice Council chairman Sarada de
Silva presented a paper on "Supply Chain Challenges for Producers"
during the third Business Session.
The business sessions were structured to analyse the issues,
threadbare and comprehend and recommend steps to resolve them in the
best possible and pragmatic manner.
The 11th congress under the theme "Sustainability and Food Safety -
Global Initiatives" deliberated and set the momentum that will have long
lasting effects on the patterns of the Global Spice Trade.Eminent
speakers shared their experience, and guided the industry towards a
sustainable future.
