"Sing A Long" with Ronnie Leitch

"Sing-A-Long", the fund raiser featuring Ronnie Leitch, organised by the Colombo Malay Cricket Club will be held on February 26 from 6.30 p.m. at the Janakala Kendraya, Pelawatte, Battaramulla.


Heart patient appeals for help

Sumana Lilian Vineetha Wickremasinghe of 96/21, Temple Road, Dadagamuwa, Veyangoda has been recommended to undergo immediate surgery for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (Normal Risk Surgery) CABG NR, by the Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon of the Lanka Hospitals, Dr. Gamini Ranasinghe.

The surgery is estimated to cost around Rs. 490,000.

The patient in dire financial straits, is in need of financial support and appeals to the generous public to help them in this worthy cause.

Financial contributions may be remitted to A/c No. 107753928918 of Sampath Bank, Veyangoda.


Sports meet

His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Maxwell Silva of the Colombo Archdiocese will open St. Joseph's playground of the Good Shepherd Balika Maha Vidyalaya Nayakakanda on February 14 at 8.30 a.m.

It will be followed by the annual inter-house sports meet.


Kovil festival in Matale

The Matale Sri Muthumariamman Vasthanam Festival will begin with the flag hoisting ceremony on February 13 at 11.00 a.m.

The festival will continue for 25 days. Devotees in large numbers will make their offerings at the temple and invoke blessings of the deities.


Lecture on turtle conservation

Thushan Kapurusinghe, Team Leader and Committee Chairman of the Marine Turtle Project, who counts many years of research on turtle conservation, will deliver a lecture on 'Turtle conservation and its relevance to tourism Sri Lanka'.The illustrated lecture under the auspices of the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society, will be held on Thursday at 6.00 p.m. The venue will be the Institute of Engineers (Wimalasurendra Auditorium) Vidya Mawatha, Colombo 7.


SAARC Cultural Festival

The SAARC Cultural Festival, with performances from Bangladesh, India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka will be held for three days from February 17 to 19 in Colombo and Galle.

A parade and performance will be held at the BMICH Open Air Theatre on February 17 and 18 and another in Galle at the Hall de Galle on February 19. The opening day parade will feature musicians and dancers from the member States taking part in the festival.
