Batsmen make merry in Premier cricket

Batsmen made merry producing 700 runs for the loss of 12 wickets during the first two day's play in their Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) conducted Inter-Club Premier League Tier 'A' tournament match continued at Maitland Place yesterday.

A stubborn 123-run last wicket partnership between Chilaw Marians last pair of Shaminda Eranga (100 n.o) and Arosh Janoda (68) helped the visitors to make a healthy 425 all out.

SSC, despite losing Dimuth Karunaratne for 8 with the total on 12, recovered quickly to make a healthy 225 for 2 at close with Kaushal Silva (114 n.o) and Thilina Kandamby (47 n.o) at the wicket. The match will be continued at 10 a.m. today.

Chilaw Marians: 425 all out (Amal Athulathmudali 53, Harsha Cooray 74, Shaminda Eranga 100 n.o, Arosh Janoda 68, Amil Prasad 4 for 97, Chathupama Gunasinghe 3 for 86).

SSC: 275 for 2 at close (Tharanga Paranavithana 93, Kaushal Silva 114 n.o, Thilina Kandamby 47 n.o.).

Ragama struggling

Ragama CC, set to make a huge 433 to win, were struggling at 39 for 2 on the second day of their Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) conducted Inter-Club Premier League Tier 'A' tournament match continued at Reid Avenue yesterday.

The match will be continued at 10 a.m. today.

The match will be continued at 10 a.m. today.

SLPASC: 274 all out (Shantha Kalavitigoda 86, Ishan Muthaliph 35, Tharindu Mendis 31, Janith Silva 4 for 66, Seekkuge Prasanna 3 for 87).

SL Army SC: 149 for 5 at close (Rishan Kavinga 49, Mohamed Feshal 54, Dinuk Jayasinghe 2 for 34, Anuk de Alwis 2 doe 12).

Dulanjana takes 7 /92

Leg spinner Dulanjana Mendis, who opened bowling for Navy Sports Club, produced a superb spell of 7 for 92 off 36 overs to restrict Panadura SC for 225 for 8 at close on the second day of their Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) conducted Inter-Club Premier League Tier 'B' tournament match continued at Welisara yesterday.

This was in reply to the sailors' first innings total of 326 all out with opener Gayas Christopher making a fine century - 127 with 14 fours off 260 balls. The match will be continued at 10 a.m. today.

CCC, trailing by 172 runs on the first innings and were forced to follow on, made a strong fight back to score 167 for 2 at close in their second essay on day two of their Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) conducted Inter-Club Premier League Tier 'B' tournament match against Kurunegala Youth CC continued at Maitland Place yesterday.

The match will be continued at 10 a.m. today.

Kurunegala YCC: 303 all out (Udesh Perera 65, Sisira Kumara 45, Hiran Wickremasekera 48, Ranil Dhammika 3 for 64, Dilesh Gunaratne 2 for 49, Sujith Nikethana 2 for 25).

V. Chopra struck a vibrant 169 as Tamil Union totaled 347 for 3 in reply to NCC's 315 on the second day of their Premier League cricket match played at the NCC grounds.
