Sebastianites fight-back to force a draw

Half centuries by Amila Aponso 78 not out (7 fours) and Amal Fernando
65 (8 fours) helped St. Sebastian's College Moratuwa to force a draw in
their inter school cricket match against St. Sylvester's College, Kandy
at the University Grounds, Peradeniya yesterday.
The Sebastianites in reply to the Sylvestrian total of 314 for 9
declared folded up for 161 with only Amila Aponso resisting with a
defensive 48.
Forced to follow on with nearly 60 overs of play remaining the
Sebastianites fared much better in the second innings by scoring 227 for
3 at the stumps. Amila Aponso and Amal Fernando put on 85 runs for the
third which foiled the Sylvestrians chances of a win.
St. Sylvester's College 314 for 9 decl. in 102 overs (Ruwantha
Ekanayake 92, Waruna Wijesinghe 83, Dushan Malalasena 32, Faiz Ahamed
30, Sachinda Gunawardena 2 for 77 Amila Aponso 2 for 27, Samitha de Mel
